Well I posted earlier that I was young, scared, only 31 and worried about DC. I was also worried about surgery. And the more I read this site the more I realised I was being totally crazy if I went for a procedure that could in fact accelerate the disease.

At least with NA, I don't have another open wound (which caused the problem in the first place) and so what if I have to return 60 times in the next 60 years. I'd rather that than a butchered hand I suppose.

So I decided that I really need to go for this. My little finger is at 90 degrees and it's getting worse. I e-mailed dr.f.badois@wanadoo.fr early last week, with digital pics of my finger, and I haven't had a reply at all. I can't believe it. I would have thought I'd have at least had a letter saying 'Thank you, we'll be in touch as soon as possible'.

This also worries me. If they're not replying to e-mails then they can't be very professional. Is this standard practice for these people? And is there a phone number anyone knows of? Or at least a different person that is a little more reliable?

Sorry to sound so negative, but when ppl don't get back in touch with you after you've e-mailed them, that makes me a little bit wary these days.

      Dr. Badois email

Are you using this email address? dr.f.badois@wanadoo.fr

Dr. Eaton is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! Why are you contacting Dr. Badois when Dr. Eaton is here? Because of more experience? Dr. Eaton has more expertise with hands in general. I got a great recommendation for Dr. Eaton from Dr. Badois. You will not be sorry! Good luck!

        Mark~sq~s inquiry

Hi,Rita. Mark lives in the U.K.. Perhaps he would
prefer a chunnel trip and a 200.00 Euro visit for
his NA procedure instead of a trans Atlantic flight
and a $1000.00 visit to Dr. Eaton who learned the
procedure from Dr. Lermusiaux at L'Hopital Lariboisiere
where Dr. Badois did his residency twenty something
years ago. Yes, Dr. Badois endores Dr. Eaton; that
stamp of approval has value, and Dr. Eaton knows that.
We are all glad that options are increasing; meanwhile,
Mark just wants a convenient, affordable, reliable alternative that may provide a receipt for his health care
insurance. Most of all, I suspect, he wants his 90 degree
contracture released to as close as normal as possible.
The best track record is still with the Lariboisiere staff
and their thousands of successes with advanced DD. No one
else offers a Ledderhose treatment. Dr. Eaton is a fine
choice if one needs a U.S. alternative for DD treatment.
For Ledderhose, Paris remains the only realistic venue
        IMHO.

try again... or call his office...DO NOT GET THE TRADITIONALLLLLLLLLLLL... YOU ARE MAKING A MISTAKE.
READ ALL OF THE SUBJECTS... IT TAKES MONTHS OF RECOVERY..AND TOTALLY MESSES UP YOUR HANDS.. IT IS THEN DIFFICULT TO GET TO THE CORDS WITH N.A.

I am also waiting for Reply

Doctors get very busy also they have their holiday break maybe in summer in France. Patience is a virtue its stange how one adapts to DC although I long to stretch out my hands.

Dr Eaton might be the best way to go

Well here's an update: Still no reply from Dr Badois or Dr. Lermusiaux. And the bad thing now is I recieved my surgery date last week for Sept 18th (in two weeks!). I really have to sort this out urgently now.

So after the surgery letter came through I decided to contact Paris by phone. And of course they couldn't speak a word of English. So I e-mailed a friend who is half French and asked him if he could try to get me an appointment ASAP and figure out just how professional these guys come across. And apparently both doctors are on holiday until the end of September, no appointment can be made, and the secretary was not helpful at all. In fact, my friend said she was quite rude. Eventually he got another number of them directly to Dr Badois and again, she was rude and unhelpful. 'He's only replying to e-mails', she said. Well correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't this all sound a bit suspect? I mean, I understand that perhaps Doctors need a holiday, but until the end of September? And not being able to put an appointment in? And only replying to e-mails? What sort of office are they running?!

This has all got me thinking. Imagine if, as a non-speaking French person, you go to France, get off the plane, enter into your NA center, no-one speaks English, no-one is really very helpful - wouldn't you feel really worried? And then how do you communicate if you feel something isn't quite right? And then (and this worries me more), you can't get in touch with either of the Doctors if you need after-NA support. 'Oh just E-mail them', the secetary says. Well actually she probably wont understand you in the first place. Sorry but my health is too important to me than having to wait 3 weeks for a reply to an e-mail.

So I'm now thinking Dr Eaton. First of all, he speaks English. I think that could be really important. Secondly, the website. Now correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the French NA site look like it was knocked up in 5 minutes on some Website Wizard program? And even then, on a bad one. Even though Dr Eatons site is certainly not the best I've ever seen, I learnt so much more from his pages than I did from the French ones. And at least he looks half professional in his pictures.

I am willing to pay whatever it takes to get this done in a comfortable, clean and professional environment. I certainly haven't got money to burn but when my hards are my life, my job and my everything, money is not an issue. I'm going to call this hand center tomorrow and hopefully I won't be given the same treatment as this French secretary gave my friend.

                    Wish me luck everyone!

And please let me know your thoughts ;)
