Nope, doesn~sq~t have to hurt.
I am going tomorrow for injections for the pain in my palm. I would like to know if this hurts very much. I am a big baby about needles.

Nope, doesn~sq~t have to hurt.
I've had cortisone injections in my knuckles due to knuckle pads. Years ago a rheumatologist took a needle as big as a screwdriver (the cortisone is thick) and jammed it into my knuckle. OWWWWWWW!!! I considered it a new high in pain.
Last month, after dreading the procedure for a week, a plastic surgeon/hand surgeon injected an 8 hour anesthetic into my finger BEFORE injecting the cortisone. It did not hurt at all - only the pin prick of the first shot. Now that I know this, no one is ever going to shoot cortisone into my hand without that shot of pain killer.
Good luck. Kristen

Cortisone injection
I read the pros and cons of these injections -- I have severe osteo-arthritis in both knees with the left one being the most painful. I have suffered pain and agony for over three years, which sometimes kept me from activities that I enjoy. We decided to try the injections yesterday (9/19/03) to try to get some relief. Yes, the pain that I felt when the injection was being administered was great, but it only lasted a minute or so. There was no pain after the doctor was done -- NONE!! This morning, I got out ofbed and didn't walk like "Amos McCoy" as I headed to the kitchen. It's truly a grand feeling to be able to walk with my husband and not have to stop every 10 steps because of the stabbing pain!! GO FOR IT!!

Cortisone for DC
Anyone ever had injections done prior to NA? Dr Eaton is suggesting I go this route for my PIP joints. Lots of scar tissue to work thru if not impossible
