Outstanding!
!0,000 more successes and the world will flock to Memphis. Whoops: perhaps, the Elvis visitors are also symptomatic and can add to Dupuytren's candidates seeking treatment. The Scot-Irish are actually Welsh; The Vikings may not have penetrated into Appalachian bloodlines (via ancestors.) That connection would be an interesting epidemiologic inquiry. Is DD/DC prevalent in the Smokey's? Compared to elsewhere? Dr. Bourland is probably a terrific Doctor; others have more history in treating DD/DC. Five years from now, matters might be different. Weigh the degree of problem against the degree of expertise needed for intervention. Convenience and "price" are minor factors. Balance comfort, trust, experience, success, language, etc. and make your own decision; then, live with it. Personally, I like to consult with the Drs. that have treated more than 10,000 cases over thirty years. The fact that they speak English is a plus for me. The plane trip is an inconvenience. Also, the Doctor does not participate in the OSHA, HIPPAA charade; OMG, they do not wear gowns and masks! Will I die of bubonic plague! Follow your instincts; seek treatment. No cure exists; a short to middle treatment does exist (needle aponevrotomy.) Collaganase is a promising substitute (non-cure)for a one visit NA provcedure. Unfortunaately, it will take several visits to accomplish the objective acheived in 20 minutes with NA. Afraid of needles? Consider Nitrous Oxide or Sedation. Advanced cases require surgery ands ometimes amputation. Start early and benign interventions can postpone major problems. Currently, no major breakthroughs exist on any continent. Go to TN or FL if you prefer; go to the Lariboisiere Staff in Belgium, France, Italy, Switzerland, etc. In early stages, the NA procedure is a miraculous, and benign intervention. Go with the pros; let the rookies learn on someone else's hand(s.) The realistic question is. " How many times have you performed THIS procedure, Doctor?" 300 sounds like a good entry level for me. Did I mention that there are Doctors that have performed 10,000 procedures of varying complexity over three decades; and they speak a few laguages? Oh, ya; the treatment costs less because the proceduure is not market driven (plastic surgery, tooth whitening) and therefore, not a "profit center." If you really fear travel, go to Memphis or Florida; you will be happy with the OSHA, HIPPAA eyewash plus magnification (of what?)Hey, it will cost 3 to 4 times more, but Medicare might pay a small portion. That is what is important, benefits! Go for them!
