Digit Wiget

I have dupuytrens in my left hand ring finger. I have worn a device called the Digit Wiget for 5 weeks now and my finger has gone from 60 degrees contracture to a 10 degrees contractor - it's almost straight. If you do a Google on it, you can see how it works. There are different strengths of bands that you put on and it lifts the finger over time. You wear this device 24/7 except for 4 times a day for flex exercises. It needs to be removed after 6 weeks because of the fear of infection. I am going to have mine taken off August 10 and the the normal surgery on my finger. Hopefully it will end up perfectly straight.

If surgery is necessary even after the Digit Widget has reduced your contracture to 10 degrees, I assume that's because the effect of the DW isn't permanent?

In some cases surgery is not needed after the digit wiget. I have two nodules left, but the other nodules have gone. My finger was almost down to my palm and the tendon and artery was shortened. If the doctor would have done surgery without the use of the digit wiget, he could only raise my finger 50%, because if he raised it all the way up there wouldn't be enough artery and tendon, thus lack of blood supply to the tip of my finger resulting in amputation of the tip of my finger.
