Dypuytron~sq~s Syndrome and Soy

I have found that I have eaten soy for years and I haven't had symptoms in my hand til now, age 51.I think the estrogen in soy may help.
Both my sister and brother have the condition much worse. She has it so bad and has had to have surgery. Also I have found a hormonal link. I had kids and my sister didn't.

Dups and soy

This posting caught my eye. I was diagnosed with Dups in June of this year, age 53. I've had symptoms for 2-3 years prior but thought it was a callaus from vigorous gardening tasks. My diagnosis shocked me, needless to say. I have enjoyed this forum to become more informed as the doctor (although good I think) said little other than when you get to 30 degree contraction, we'll do surgery but encouraged waiting as long as possible. I'm at 22% at the moment.

I have used soy for a couple of years now because I'm sensitive to milk and I don't see that it has helped the disease any, but it maybe it is staving off it getting worse. I'll keep my eye on that.

I did read an article recently on eCureMe.com that said that are finding some connection to high blood lipids and high cholesterol to Dups. Both of mine are high, so I'd be interested in anyone's take on this theory. I am going to diligently try to reduce my levels now for multiple reasons, of course. I found it very interesting.

PIP / MCP

Kay:

If the finger joint in question is the one closest to the palm (MCP) traditional Open Surgery is usually easier and the recovery and final results are also better than if the contracted joint is the 2nd joint (PIP). Having had one difficult PIP surgery I'm personal opting to go with NA from now on. However, many do just fine with traditional surgery, especially when only correcting the MCP.

May you finger stay at 22 D. indefinitely
