French Data

It seems to me that it should be possible to have some long term data now. The source of such data would not be Eaton (since he only started 3 years ago) but Lermusiaux and his team in Paris. They have been doing it for the last 20 years. Their last study was done in 1996. Now that they have an extra 10 years of data, why could they not compile what they have?
I also have a question on Wofgang's post of September 4. In his description of 'extension', would he consider the appearance of DC on the OTHER hand an extension or are the two hands totally independent?

French Data

I am to see Dr Lermusiaux on the 12th September. I will ask him why there has not been any update on the needle aponeurotomy since 1996. I know for a fact that the good doctor is working 5 days a week on hands. It may be that he has just not had the time to update.

French Data

Donald,

Unfortunately in the eyes of the American medical establishment the French have a horrible reputation for keeping good medical data. Essentially, their data is viewed as almost worthless. Eaton showed *great* respect for Lermusiaux for developing NA, but to my surprise reiterated this point of view himself. (Don't tell Lermusiaux though, it might hurt his feelings ;-)

Take that 1996 French study and put it in the face of an American CHS. What you'll likely get is: "Oh.....but that's French". Eaton was thrilled when his clinical data equaled or surpassed that of the French in terms of nerve damage. Its not that he didn't think he could do as well. He just had to see it for himself. That says a lot.

follow up

Randy,

Thanks for your 'insider' information. Very interesting.

I still think that if Marjorie has a chance to ask Lermusiaux why he has not updated his last study (and does he plan to issue an update in the near future?), she should ask him (as she offered to do in her last post). We might gain some knowledge (to which we may have to add a grain of salt).

follow up

Thank you to those who have contacted me or responded to my earlier post, 9/1 I believe. This site really can be helpful, the suggestions I've received have helped me think through how I want to approach further treatment. I'll post when I have more to offer.

Dr Lermusiaux

To Marjorie and Donald

Dr Lermusiaux is the nicest Dr you could ever meet and I'm very happy with the NA he did on me.
If you are looking to him to publish update data I'm afraid his data would be of a limmited nature and no where near Dr Eaton's classic and accepted scientific approach.
Lermusiaux asks for family history of Dups, alcohol, diabeties, previous ops and one or two other questions.
There is no follow-up after you leave his premises. If there's no follow-up then there is a great void on post-op data and recurrence.
His work is excellent but I'm sure he is not interested in proving up his work to the level you are asking.

Tom,

Your message is out of line and of no use. If Sean/Gary are the same and I see no proof of that - who cares? Others have freely stated that they change login names to protect their identify and there are clearly multiple personalities on this site. They may be lonely people or nut jobs, but again, who cares?

You, on the other hand, have been the most hostile person on this site and you attack everyone. You have also been credited with using email to spam people. Your message was only to pick a fight. How childish. We can only hope that you will start to act like an adult and stop.

Flying Accusations

Hi Graeme,
Sorry I did not make myself clear. Dr L will have little data from his private patients. However there will be lots of data from the hospital laraboisiere where several doctors do NA and treated 2000 patients last year. It is worth an ask.

Flying Accusations

CharlesM,your post was idiotic and I will not respond beyond this one. I have never been accused of spamming anybody. Quit lying and if trying to pick a fight, you're way over matched.

Yep Francis. Just like the good old days. I guess nothing like a thread sighting a NA Vs OS study to fire it back up.
