Friend recently Diagnosed

Hi everyone, I wanted to see if anyone here could share their experience with Dupuytren's Disease? A good fiend was recenlty diagnosed and I told him I would help do some research (don't think he has the internet). I am looking to find the various treament options (if there are various and what you think is the best option) and the best doctors in the United States, he in in NJ outside of Philadelphia, but if there are better doctors anywhere in the US I would love to hear about them.

He is young from what I've read he is only around 30, from what I read the disease is usually more servere if it develops at a young age, it usually happens after the retirement years from what I've read. He thinks his great grandfather had it later in life.

I did join a yahoo group but it only had like 5 posts in 2 years and no links or files section. If you could offer any helpful information I would truly appreciate it, I would love to talk to you. My e-mail is chele323232@yahoo.com

Therapies

Hi Michele,

I just posted a response on the thread "info request" that apllies also to your question. here is a copy of my response:

"there are several proven therapies, though not all of them are available everywhere. Of course, there are also even more therapies being researched. You can find an overview on both on our web site www.dupuytren-online.info.

By the way: we will soon add another page on our web site dedicated to needle aponevrotomy (NA). We feel that this therapy ought get more attention on our web site. But you can find a lot of info on NA in this forum and in www.dupuytren.org.

The Florida Hand Center site lists a wealth of literature, specifically on its FAQ page http://www.handcenter.org/newfile25.htm

Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to send me a mail. Also, should you find interesting publications or promising therapies then it would be great if you would send me a mail, too!"

Good luck!

Wolfgang
