Insurance coverage for NA / any advice?

Hello,

This is my first post to this forum.
I found out about NA by stumbling across this forum last summer. Thanks!! for all the great information.
I had been approved for standard surgery and was trying to learn more about DC. It made my day when I found a better option.
I have DC on both little fingers.
I am scheduled to have NA with Dr. Eaton on Feb 16 and 17th.(one hand each day)

Now for my question.
I have insurance through a high tech company provided by CIGNA insurance. Since NA is not a standard procedure (but it should be)I doubt that they will approve it.
I have not tired to get approval yet, but I am planning to run it by them asap. My idea is that my approach should be that NA would cost much less than the standard surgery (anyone have $ figures on this?)
and therefore I am going to save them considerable money going the NA route. They did approve the standard surgery last summer.
Anyone tried this approach with success?

I am going to Jupiter regardless of if it is approved or not. But I feel that they should pay up for the surgery part - not the airfare etc..

Regarding the trip to Florida.
I am flying out from Portland,Oregon and have never been to Florida. I have made plans to drive down to Key west and spend 2 days there after the NA before flying home.
Am I trying to do too much too soon?

Thanks in advance,

Andy

insurance for NA

Andy,

Call Dr. Eaton's office and they can tell you how to proceed. I was there on Monday, and all I had to pay was $10 copay. My doctor was Dr. Zidel and I had Blue Cross PPO. The procedure went real well.

Insurance at Dr. Eaton~sq~s

Hi,

Actually, I asked Terri the scheduler at Dr. Eaton's.
She said that they did not accept CIGNA insurance, but that they would bill them as a courstesy.
I figure my only change is to get a pre-approval some how and was fishing for ideas from those who have been through this.

Hey Andy

Hey Andy
Driving down to Key West after the NA sounds great!.
I've had NA twice with Dr. Eaton and the 400 mile round
trip was done on the same day without problems.
My Medicare insurance had no problems with the provided
codes and was backed up by my Tricare Insurance which also
had no problems with the procedures.
Hope all is successful with your Florida venture. The Keys are delightful to visit, but pass right by the Miami area!

Thanks for the info on insurance coverage

Thanks for the all the tips on insurance coverage.
I think I now have the details worked out.
After my $250 deductible (for going out of network)
I should get 80% coverage. The travel/lodging for the trip will be mine of course, but paying this sounds much better than getting both my hands sliced open with the conventional surgery.
Besides, Florida sounds pretty good to me this time of year. Hope to have a good report to feed back in a few weeks.

Regards,
Andy
