Repeat NA?

I should be very grateful to hear from anyone who has had NA more than once as both my hnds are beginning to need another treatment.

repeat NA

Marilyn - I have had 2 NAs on my left hand (third finger PIP), and 1 on my right. I am going to Dr Pess in NJ for my third NA on left hand soon. Seems to me like each consecutive release gets a *little* less straightening - but it's still better than the alternative!

I agree with Ellen.

I have had three treatments using NA by
Dr Eaton on my pinkie finger and each time
the straightening is progressively less and
the time for contraction to resume is
progressively faster.

Dupuytren's Contraction is a disease that varies
quite drastically from one individual to another.
Hopefully, someday there will be a cure for this disease.

I've has one NA in my right hand and it is still holding.
Dr eaton has done 2 in the left hand and now it seems I will need the dreaded DURGERY!
so- NA is only good for th ose who dont get recurrance fast... for the rest of us...it is an individual situation and no 2 people are alike-

I had no clue I'd be headed in the directio of surgery so soon after the second NA ( six months) but that's what Dr Eaton told me I might need so I'm headed for this.

I lvie in WA and I'll let you know how it all turns out
Surgery scheduled for Janury 3rd 2006.If anyone near Seattle wishes to chat about this, pls send email, I'm pretty scared right now.

surgery

Hi Miriam,

not neccessarily surgery is a desaster, many people are satisfied with the results (of course it is more inconvenient than NA and it requires post-treatment). The issue with surgery is primarily that side effects are difficult to predict because also for surgery "it is an individual situation and no 2 people are alike". Personally I think it would be unfortnate if this forum would create panic in case of surgery. But, admittedly, personally I will not have surgery again either.

Are you sure that surgery is urgently required for you? If you had NA 6 months ago your fingers are probably still fairly straight, aren't they? The issue with NA is that it does not remove the affected tissue and the Dupuytren cords will keep growing. Are yours growing so fast? If not, I would rather wait with surgery.

Wolfgang
