Three month progress report on NA

I just sent Dr. Eaton photos of my hand three months after NA procedure at his Florida office. My right ring finger is as straight as it was the day after the operation, and the pea-sized nodule at the base of the finger has pretty much disappeared. It had been injected with cortisone.

I asked Dr. Eaton how long I might expect the straightness to last, but, understandably, he said he could not predict.

I also asked if there would be any benefit in continuing to wear the splint beyond the three month period originally prescribed. He said no.

The way my hand looks, I feel sure that a year from now my finger will still be better off than it was the day before the operation. And I told my self at the beginning that repeating the procedure yearly would be well worth it rather than undergoing a radical, open-up-your hand operation. Hope this info is useful to newbies contemplating NA.

Progress

Bob,

Good for you. I hope your finger stays straight for the rest of your life. You never know. I had NA from the great Dr. Eaton 18 months ago. I just sent in my latest pics. My pinky is just as straight as it was soon after NA. I am hoping for two years but who knows? Perhaps three years is possible or more. Such things have happened.

21 Months and still very good

I posted my experience 11/13/03 under "miraculous change"

Now twenty-one months later there evidence that new cords are forming and that someday I may have to have NA repeated.

But I still have full use of thathand and it seems unlikely that i will have to go back to Dr. Eaton for a at least six months or perhaps a year.

There is no way of predicting how rapidly the cords will
grow or when they will cause contracture.

My left hand has had a cord for at least four years but there is no significant contracture so I will wait on having Dr. Eaton do NA on that one.

It would be interesting to hear from anyone that has had to have NA repeated in less than six months. Or anyone that has anything negatve concerning their experience with NA.

time in between NA~sq~s

I would agree, even on a cost basis you can have NA once a year and be ahead of the cost of the traditional plus the down tome for therapy. I am typing away 3 hours after the procedure and although my pinkie was a bit numb till this am it is doing fine now. (And the shift key for some strange reason seems to function much better since coming home from Jupiter!)

I am trying to figure out if there is any relationship between caffeine ( i.e. CHOCOLATE) and DC

Do any of you drink a lot of coffee or eat tons of chocolate?
I'm now about ready to go back to Dr Eaton after only 4 months!

thanks all, Miriam

caffeine?

I have never drunk coffee in my life, and have not had caffeinated tea in 3 years. I got dupuytrens about 2 years ago, so personally, I think caffeine is not an answer.

I do have chocolate from time to time (the good quality dark stuff) as most health practitioners agree it has some nutritional benefits.

good luck
