You asked for it! You got it! Another Paris trained surgeon !

It pays to thank people! After Huricanes Frances and Jeanne hit our area, I was so grateful for the full use of my recently released hand, I had to call Dr. Eaton's office. Micki, the Office Manager, happened to answer the phone. I told her how much I needed BOTH of my hands to handle the aftermath cleanup and how glad I was to have full use of both of my hands! She said that was certainly positive coming from someone who had been without electricity and airconditioning 10 days on the first hurricane and 5 days on the second hurricane!

She said she had some positive news of her own but had been delayed due to the 4 back to back hurricanes! They were in the process of making an announcement....which she gave me permission to share with the readers of the Forum...so dear readers, you asked for it.....you got it!

Charles Eaton, MD, previously the only Paris-trained physician performing the Needle Aponevrotomy procedure(NA) for Dupuytrens Contracture in the United States, has introduced Eaton's Paris Procedure being performed at The Hand Center in Jupiter, Florida. He also announced the affiliation of his colleague, Paul Zidel,MD., another Paris-trained physician, who will complement the team located at 1002 S. Old Dixie Highway, Suite 105, Jupiter, Florida 33458.

Both physicians are Board Certified Hand Surgeons with multiple decades of combined experience in traditional surgical techniques and procedures. Now, they bring to the United States a unique technique that is minimally invasive to the patient with relatively quick results AND no anesthesia, no significant discomfort,no hospitalization, no physical therapy, no down time from normal activities, and no additional bills for facilities or other medical personnel.

Caution! This procedure does produce SMILES!!!!!

In an effort to continue his dedication to the repair and research of the Dupuytren Disease, Dr. Eaton has expanded The Hand Center with the goal of positively impacting the lives of those living with Dupuytrens.

Good news travels...and so do people who want help! So far, people from 40 states, South America, Australia, and the Virgin Islands have visited and received the help they needed.

The Hand Center is here to serve you! It is located at 1002 S. Old Dixie Highway, Suite 105, Jupiter, Florida 33458 For more information, visit http://info@handcenter.org/ or call 561-746-7686.

Thank you so very much for your information Barb. This is wonderful news. Now if we could get Paris-trained hand doctors on the west coast how happy we would be in California. You deserve a big box of chocolates for your fine report.

The Writing was On the Wall

Apparently what Eaton has done is to recruit another colleague into his practice. The writing was on the wall. We all knew that eventually he wasn't going to be able to handle the work load himself. Looks like he did something about it. Unfortunately this does nothing for us on the West Coast, but at least we know we can get an appointment when we need one!

Great News!

Wonderful!

Now they will need more "Hand Chairs" out in
the waiting room! I will be down there in two
weeks for my second treatment and am looking forward
to more "little bee sting" jabs!

~dq~Paris trained~dq~ is not everything.

*Where did he observe*? Who trained him? Why is that equivalent to a week in Paris?

~dq~Paris trained~dq~ is not everything.

I have seen many references on this site, where there has been an overemphasis on the importance of going to Paris for a week for a physician to be qualified in NA. As a physician, I can tell you there are many ways to learn, and a week's experience anywhere does not make you an expert. It comes from solid background, passion for what you do, caring for your patients, a natural desire to produce quality results, a constellation of inborn or learned talents that either you have or you don't, and careful study of the particular new procedure or treatment you are learning.

Learning is not about your pedigree, whether you went to Paris or not. I don't know any of the doctors who provide NA, but when I need one, I will not judge them so narrowly.

We desperately need more GOOD hand surgeons in the US to become trained and perform NA. I think we should judge new ones on their merit. If we strike them down without sound knowledge of their talent, we inadvertantly limit the growth of NA in the US.
