Has anybody had any experience with Doctors in Texas?
This is my first time seeing this site. I had surgery 5 weeks ago and my dr. had mentioned about using a needle to cut the cord to one of my fingers. While he didn't do that for me, my son who lives near Corpus Cristi TX has a milder case but his ring finger is completely bent. Does anybody have any experiences good or bad that I may relay to him? I don't think that he needs full out Z surgery but I'm not a doctor.

Re: Has anybody had any experience with Doctors in Texas?
I had NA (= needle fasciotomy) about 2,5 years ago. It was easy and my hand was fully functional after just two days. The drawback of needle fasciotomy is that no diseased tissue is cut out and the contracture may return, sooner than after surgery, Wearing a splint after NA helps keeping the finger straight https://www.dupuytren-online.info/dupuyt...-splinting.html .
I had surgery on another finger and personally, I would always try needle fasciotomy first. It's so easy, it does very little damage to the hand, and it can be repeated several times.
As with surgery, it pays to consult a doctor who is experienced in using that technique. You can fnd a list of doctors on https://www.dupuytren-online.info/NA_list_North_America.html, although this list doesn't indicate the level of experience. But you might ask in this forum.

Thank you so much. I just wish I had found this site before my surgery. I'm going on week 6 and I still have pain and not able to completely open or close my hand.

Re: Has anybody had any experience with Doctors in Texas?
People recover from hand surgery at different rates, possibly depending on surgeon skill, their own physiology, and the amount of work done. Six weeks is still early, so hang in there, do the physio and let’s hope your recovery is less than 6 months to a year which is towards the worse case end. Has your surgeon or OT suggested splinting?

No he hasn't mentioned a splint yet but I go see him again in 3 days and I am going to ask him about it.
