Hi all

Great info here as always, i too have looked at the transport and found Langenhorn nord to be closest stop. However the cheap transport card states you can use buses trains and subway. There is (so i read) a stop very close on the bus. I think bus 292? I need to confirm this but Spanishbudda may know.

Thanks and good luck Tamara
It's the 292 that goes up and down Langenhorner Chaussee road, which is where the Stahlenzentrum clinic is located. So that's the one to get from Langenhorn Markt.

But from Langenhorn Nord, I think but am not sure, it's the 192 that will take you from the U1 station to Langenhorner Chaussee where you would get the 292, or walk since the clinic is visible from the corner of Langenhorner Chaussee and Foorthkamp.

Re: Prof S here i come!

Yes, I have looked at maps online and am getting the gist of the directions. As long as I can figure out which way to turn out of the stations I should be good. Yes, that is exactly my plan, to avoid expensive roaming charges, so will be happy to do hotel planning and find a good local map. Thanks for your info, I am getting a bit less nervous of the travel and most excited to see Dr. S. A wonderful decision for me to be able to see him and feel assured I am (treatment or not) doing the right thing and trying what I can. Good luck to all in your journeys, keep us posted, and I will also.

Re: Prof S here i come!

Hi Tamara.

Have you been yet to see Prof S? I am back from a one day consultation and glad i went. It felt a bit rushed but i think that was just me..mi had so many questions. But i did get a good meeting and very greatful for prof s time.

One thing that surprised me...there wasn't much English speaking going on! Prof S is perfect very good. Reception can get by well. Bus drivers spoke no English! At least the ones i found...luckily i typed out the ticket type etc and pointed to it so got by fine!

Im not for one minute complaining i don't speak another language and don't expect them too. My fault for going unprepared. Once on trains buses tubes etc. Very easy. i got an Offline app which was great on the bus to check i was heading the right way. All stops etc are clearly displayed and i thought the transport was very good. Only went wrong on the airport train as it split and this announcement was only in German! easily fixed a few stops later. There were very little in fact none i saw staff.

Great system and great apt for me. Good luck all!!

Re: Prof S here i come!

Hello, sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I was out of country a couple weeks and back to craziness. But yes, I went and must have just missed you! I agree Prof S was wonderful and I was so glad I went. I found transportation to work out well also, but yes, not much English speaking outside of the office and restaurants. I almost did the same thing with the airport train, but could hear a lady up front explaining it to another clueless traveler. But I never did figure out where the number of the train car was displayed, did you?? Do you have treatment scheduled? Also
Would love to know what downloadable app you had because no Internet was a pain!

Re: Prof S here i come!

Hi Tamara.

Im confused you answered my question about time after radiation...have you had RT on your feet before and now coming to Prof S? Apologies if i have it wrong!

Im in Germany now having the treatment. Did you come for a visit and have treatment or are you coming back?

The airport train number is displayed at some stations but not others i think. Just have to be watchful. A day of using the transport and i think its great. Easy and cheap compared to say London.

The app is basic but so helpful. I decided to walk today from Langenhorn Nord stop...was further than i though , best to get off at. forthkamp from the 292 bus the map helps. It has no direction so its a matter of walk and see but i still love it. I am staying a way out but trains/buses don't take long at all.

Map is just called offline Hamburg Map. I have an Android not sure if its also on IOS?

Hope this helps.
