Re: Newly diagnosed

I also can find no family history for this disease. It started after I was involved in a car accident 11 years ago. The hand that it presented it in, has made very little progress, while the other hand, once it was affected about 5 years later, had required treatment. My orthopedist told me that the early onset was caused by the trauma of the accident (that was the arm that had been injured badly).

Re: Newly diagnosed

They aren't saying mine is a direct result of the accident - although since it started on my right hand where I continue to use a crutch, it's hard not to see a parallel. What is really wierd is that my right hand stopped aching when I used the crutch alot - after the nodule formed. When I use my left hand - it does ache. Also since the chord seems to be fading, my right hand now aches like my left when I use the crutch alot. Oh well, the last few years have at least been educational as far as anatomy and medicine goes.

I wish you the best.
