Solute Strength & Systemic Signals
I’ve been pondering. I have aggressive bilateral Dupuytren’s. During the first 20 years or so the condition manifested itself through concurrent development of symmetric contractures. Now after 10 surgical releases, (four on left hand and six on right hand) and 5 grafts, (two on left hand, and three on right) new growths are almost exclusively on my right hand. There is likely a systemic signal molecule(s) that when produced causes collagen fibers to tangle, contract and proliferate. Many biomolecules exert their effects through concentration gradients, the more there is in solution, the greater the effect.
So… Has anyone in the forum come upon any research into the nature of the biochemical signals that instigate growth of facia? Have any forum members found through research or experience, that the removal/grafting of a particular palmer area is more effective at reducing disease recurrence?
Time to go stretch my latest stitches.

Re: Solute Strength & Systemic Signals
Hi Richard, that's still somewhat of a mystery but TGF beta is likely involved. More importantly, an Aussie member of our society, newman, had 20+ surgeries and several skin grafts but the disease still remained aggressive. He then had radiotherapy and that stabilized his condition. He didn't require any more surgeries since then. I believe he had RT about 3-4 years ago.
You can find his posts by clicking on "search forum" on the left and then search for posts from user newman.

Re: Solute Strength & Systemic Signals
Thanks Wach,
The TGK beta connection is intriguing and complex. The posts by Newman, informative. I'll be looking into RT next, after bandages come off.
