Both present the 3-years data of the CORDLESS study and both have pretty much the same authors. The IDS is only awarding papers that are published in recognized, peer-reviewed journals. Therefore the paper published in the Journal of Hand Surgery Am. got the award. 5-year data of that study are not yet available.

Thanks. It's unclear to me, though, how this 3 year data relates to that presented from the CORDLESS study (link below). Data points seem to be the same. I can personally attest to how some of this data/measurements were obtained and it ain't pretty!
