Time to get serious in Seattle
I developed, or became aware of, dupuytren in my left hand 3 years ago after I broke the middle finger below the last knuckle playing soccer. I had surgery on my hand at the time and 3 screws were placed in the bone. I have no family history of dupuytren. The hand surgeon noticed the bumps after the surgery and after the cast was removed.
The other day I tried to wear a Tungsten ring on my left hand and I swear it aggrevated my dupuytren so much that I took the ring off within minutes and decided at that moment I need to take action.
I took a picture of my hand with my cell phone and circled the nodules. Based on my readings it seems radiation might be a good course of action for me but I am eager to hear from the many experts on this forum. Thanks in advance for your time and advice.

Re: Time to get serious in Seattle
Hey Kurt!
Welcome to the boat, as we are in the same one! I had my first nodule pop up about two years ago, but the past few months the Dupuytrens has gone crazy on me. 3 new nodules and a well defined cord. I too have decided that RT is the best option for me, I do not want to wait until the point of contracture to have something done. I plan to go to Hamburg for the procedure, probably within the next month. I am no expert and can't answer any of your questions yet, but from the look of your hand I believe RT is the right choice for you.

Re: Time to get serious in Seattle
HI, well i have had every treatment in the book including surgery, NA, xiaflex and recently radiation in the 12 years I have had this. I really think radiation before it gets advanced is a good thing. I got my contraction pretty well straightened out with surgery and needle but prevention is best. So I would say go for it. REad my post about getting radiation in a small town if you don't have a place already doing this in your area. I have had one set of treatments over 5 days and will have another after 8 weeks. No ill effects. too soon to see if its causing any shrinkage but it takes time. The excellent Dr. Denkler thought it was a good idea for me at this point and I totally trust his judgement. I wish I had done it years ago when this first started in my right hand after battling it in left hand for years. Might have nipped it sooner. GL. DianeS
