Re: weight lifting, xiaflex, radiation therapy

Msk,
Yes, I fully understand the feeling of an area of my hand tightening without contracture. As time passed, contracture became evident. Extreme contracture has not been how my hands have been affected, but insidious tightening with mild contracture has been most prominent.

Your description of how your hand felt after RT sounds like mine - improved grip, less irritating creepy sensations in my hand, etc. I have no doubt that RT made the difference.

Re: weight lifting, xiaflex, radiation therapy

Have just completed round 1 of RT. Would like to know if anyone avoided weight training …completely…using free weights, bar bell, etc…( with padded gloves). Nothing g heavy duty..I’m 66 and just trying to build/ maintain muscle mass.
Thanks!

Did you ask your radiologist for advice? After I had each round of RT I paused in each case for about 1 or 2 weeks from sport and training with light weights, then resumed. On one occasion after resuming, a lot of surface dead or dry skin cells rubbed off making the palm side of my hands turn white (from the dead skin flakes). Use a high urea cream at night.
