Re: Women with Dupuytren's

Hi there,

I’m pretty sure the radiation treatment is more than a series of x-rays; however, it is very targeted. They will make a hard shell mask of your hand and place a small tattoo on your palm. This allows them to line it up perfectly for the entire protocol. I have had no side effects from my treatment and my hand lays completely flat. This was the best decision for me, especially, after seeing the outcomes for other family members. My little pin dot tattoo reminds me how lucky I am to have found the right treatment!

As far as Dr. Songs first name, I would have to check my records at home. We are currently on vacation and won’t be back for a while. I would call the oncology department and find out which doctor does the Dupuytren German protocol.

I wish you the very best of luck,

Lori

Re: Women with Dupuytren's

Kerryst:
Hi,
I am 55, I was just diagnosed with Dupuytren's after I broke my wrist and had surgery. I have 3 nodules in my right palm where the cast was very tight. Does anyone recommend a Doctor in Seattle for Needle fasciotomy (NA). I would like to do something now before it contracts.
Thanks,
Kerry
Hi Kerryst It was very interesting reading your post as I also broke my wrist and have 3 modules in my right palm where the cast was very tight. I also have one nodule in my left hand. How did you get on with NA or did you opt for radiotherapy. I feel my DC is getting worse and I want to do something before it gets any worse.

NA is only suitable for reducing contracture as it severs cords. As per the rest of that thread you could or should be considering any of: wait and see whilst active monitoring, steroid injections if there is inflammation, radiotherapy if there are signs of progression. Best wishes SB
