Best choice in Germany/Europe for RT now?

I see a few places saying Dr. Seegenschmiedt is sick and not practicing? Is this still current and if so who is the next best choice in Germany or Europe? He was clearly the first choice for RT...did he have a protoge?

Re: Best choice in Germany/Europe for RT now?

Unfortunately this is still current and I am afraid it might stay current.

Alternatives are listed at the bottom of http://www.dupuytren-online.info/radiotherapy_clinics.html . Ludwig Keilholz in Bayreuth has been working with Seegenschmiedt für a while, Keilholz in Frankfurt also has many years of experience with treating Dupuytren's (see our Personal experiences page http://www.dupuytren-online.info/dupuytr...xperiences.html). Both have published also research on treating DD and LD.

Ah Bayreuth is not so near anyplace major it seems so a lot more travel involved. That's unfortunate. Hamburg was a good location for me. Did you mean Dr. Herkstroeter in Frankfurt? Also do you know anything about Dr. Körner in Berlin?

Is there nobody else at Dr. S's clinic carrying on then?

If you had to choose one doctor in all of Europe (regardless of location) to get as close to Dr. S in experience for the physical exam etc who would you personally choose? His experience was what made him so far above most from what I understand.

Re: Best choice in Germany/Europe for RT now?

Did you mean Dr. Herkstroeter in Frankfurt? - Yes

Also do you know anything about Dr. Körner in Berlin? - No

Is there nobody else at Dr. S's clinic carrying on then? - Not to my knowledge. Treating DD was brought to the Hamburg clinic by Seegenschmiedt. Now that he is not there my guess is that they will probably not treat DD anymore focussing more on cancer.

If you had to choose one doctor in all of Europe (regardless of location) to get as close to Dr. S in experience for the physical exam etc who would you personally choose? His experience was what made him so far above most from what I understand. - I would consult the one closest to where I am living to minimize travelling, but by living in Germany I have more choices.

Re: Best choice in Germany/Europe for RT now?

Thanks for replying. I probably wasn't so clear but I would like to know who is the next closest in skill and knowledge to Dr. S, in Europe (doesn't have to be DE)? When I asked where you would go I didn't mean to be so literal saying "you in your location" I just meant if you had one chance to go to the best possible option who is that accepted to be now as Dr. S was before?

Sorry for being confusing...I am stressed a lot over this and had been trying to reach Dr. S for ages...but now now why I could not. I wish him well.

Re: Best choice in Germany/Europe for RT now?

In my view RT is a very simple procedure. True, Prof. Seegenschmiedt was very skilled in palpating a hand, which is very helpful but not an ultimate requirement. Any expert in RT can treat Dupuytren's after he famiiarized himself with the protocol and safety measures. A thorough palpation can be done also by a hand surgeon or even by yourself. Probably Prof. S. would find more sites which might - or might not - extend the irradiated area to some extent. But other doctors might do an equally good job.

Re: Best choice in Germany/Europe for RT now?

I appreciate your responses and apologize for the delay repyling...other medical issues have consumed me for a while. I will most likely see Dr. H in Frankfurt if he agrees and the logistics work out. Quite nervous as many things have to fall into place and I have also had lots of bad luck with medical interventions. And while the German clinics are cheaper than most of the world for RT...it's still quite a sum and physical challenge for me to spend a week in Frankfurt twice.
