Booked in for 3rd operation
Hi, i'm 61 and new to the forum but not new to DC. I have stage 4 on both little fingers following recurrence after surgery in both cases. The first operation was early 2019 and the 2nd 2023 and both times i had grafts. I now have a cord starting to affect the middle finger of my left (non dominant) hand which the consultant has recommended for surgery. The finger is contracting and is currently around 30 degrees. He talked about NA but based on the aggressive DC i have said he thought it would be ineffective, he also said the DC was likely to re-occur after surgery as well! A lot of what's discussed on this forum is new to me and I wish i had looked for it years ago. More recently i have started to feel some pain in my forearms but don't know if this is stress related or likely to be a symptom of my DC. My experience of surgery is not good but i am very anxious about the worsening condition of my hands and at this point inclined to go for further surgery. I've read a few times that surgery on little fingers possibly has a worse outcome then on other fingers. I also have a prominent nodule on my lower left hand thumb joint but currently no cording. I haven't seen or read about DC affecting thumbs in the same way but i assume it's possible. I'm not sure if i have a specific question but it feels good to be reaching out to other people with this condition and i would like people's thoughts on options cheers, Sean

Re: Booked in for 3rd operation
Sean, I agree with you totally about having a place to reach out and talk to others who have had similar experiences. I am so glad I found this forum as well. Already, I have gotten wonderful and informative feedback. I think it is so important to be able to just talk with someone about what you are experiencing. All the best on your journey and keep us in the loop, hopefully we can learn from you and you can learn from our experiences. Rick.
