Can it be DC? Advice please!

Hi,

I am a female, 28 y.o. with mostly Ukrainian/Russian background. A week ago, a hard small (about 4-5mm in diameter) lump appeared in the middle of my right palm out of nowhere. Initially it was a little tender when I pressed on it hard, but now it seems to be no more sensitive than the rest of the palm. It does not bother me except that I know it is there.
I visited a general practitioner, and he said it is a thickening in my middle finger tendon. He said it is either a harmless inflammation in the tendon, or a DC. He thinks it is about 50/50 either way and that I just need to watch it and see. I have no affected relatives that I am aware about. I have researched the statistics and looks like having a DC in the middle finger tendon for a female of my age is uncommon. What do you think? Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Send a picture and mark the nodule on your hand and we will see ...

I am female and was 53 when I first developed a nodule in the center of my right palm, right below the middle finger. It quickley turned into a cord starting at the base of the middle finger and throught the nodule.

I agree send a picture.

Thanks to everyone who responded! I am still hanging on to hope that it is NOT DC. I will post the link to picture later today.

Re: Can it be DC? Advice please!

I wanted to give an update in case someone in my position faces the same problem as I did.
I have visited a specialist (Florida Orthopaedic Institute) today (2 weeks since I have discovered the lump), and she said DC is highly unlikely. She thinks that although it is in the "classic DC place" on my palm, it's an inflammation. Indeed, the lump is becoming smaller (a nurse even pointed into the wrong spot when I asked her to identify the lump). Of note, the lump initially was a little (just minimally) tender, but not anymore. However, the Doc did indicate that if it was a DC, it would have been highly aggressive in my age.
So I will just wait and see, but I take it a little easier now. Hopefully, this info will help someone.
