Re: Covid Vaccine?

AllanAzouz:
I developed Dupuytrens a month after receiving my second dose. At first, I thought it was tendonitis, but I thought it was strange to have non-sagittal tendonitis. I finally saw a doctor after it didn't go away for 8 months, and that's how I found out I have Dupuytrens. My orthopedist said that there's nothing I can do for it. He also did not report it as a side effect of the vaccine.

i know everyone says that it isn't painful, but it can be. The swelling wanes and returns, especially if I go to the gym and don't use workout gloves.
Thanks for the update. I hope that by reviewing the information on our website and the forum, you are now aware of the various options for ongoing care, and also treatment for DD should the need arise. Personally I would say be extra careful using your hands in the gym, and elsewhere, as prevention can be the easiest of all the options, even though there's no guarantee. I bike, play tennis, do some light weights, etc, without problem but in all cases wear well cushioned gloves. Best wishes SB

Re: Covid Vaccine?

I have pain and in my right hand and both of my feet. Also mine seems to be progressing a lot since my Diagnosis in May of last year. I do not believe in coincidences too and neither do my family members both pro and anti vaccine. If you knew me before vaccine you would be convinced it was vaccine related. I have filed a adverse reaction through VAERS. Never expecting compensation but to have it recorded. First thing I did when I joined was to seek out others who feel their DD was brought out by the vaccine. Thanks for those of you who have shared your experience. For those of you who have had no effect consider yourself lucky. I do not press anyone on being vaccinated or not I just know what happened to me.

Re: Covid Vaccine?

I’ve had significant Dupuytren’s my right hand for about 12 years and only slight amount on my left hand. But about six months ago I discovered a large nodule had appeared on the palm of my left hand. I attributed that to using my left hand for the computer mouse for way more time during the pandemic that I would normally have been. And also using my iPhone way more time. However, in the last month I was examined and they found nodules on the bottom of my feet. I don’t know how long they’ve been there. But during the pandemic I developed an increase in the pain in my feet that I hadn’t had before. I attributed that to my neuropathy. But it’s possible that the nodules aggravated the neuropathy, as the nodules are painful to push on, so I assume they are pressing on nerves.

So you have given me pause to think about whether the vaccines caused it. Or did the change of our normal day activities during the pandemic cause it? A lot of people had flareups of all sorts of diseases during the pandemic, so it’s hard to sort out what caused what.A simple increase in stress can cause significant changes in the immune system, especially if it’s prolong. However just in case, I don’t think I’m gonna be getting any more booster shots. Unless my job requires it again.

Re: Covid Vaccine?

I was totally against getting the vaccine, managed to hold off getting it for over a year whilst on an extended sabbatical, but then was forced to return to work and do the mandatory vaccination. Got the first jab done, then a couple weeks later the DD nodule appeared in my left hand, then eventually the cord. Never was vaccinated for anything all my life. I’m 50 and for the most part have been following a healthy lifestyle. Can’t prove I got DD thanks to the vaccination, but I can’t help wondering that it’s one awful coincidence.

Re: Covid Vaccine?

You had to have been vaccinated for certain diseases before entering public schools, like all children are/were required to do, so saying that you’ve never had a vaccine in you life is probably not true.
The link between any number of things and the covid vaccine may come up in the future. I have had 3 boosters but have also gotten radiation therapy for my hand which has helped it from progressing further (so far)
