Duplicate operations
Hello guys, my first post, so be gentle. I have had four operations over the last ten years for lumps and contricture to my hands and fingers. The last one this year was for a finger that i had done previously yet after this latest operation it is now going back to exactly as it was perviously. I was told before this operation to consider amputation of this finger should it return. I have already lost the use of one of my joints on the same hand due to an accident and have found that because the constricture has reappeared rapiedly my other fingers cannot compensate so i am in discomfort to say the least. I have been told from other sourses that it may be possible for yet another operation this time considering skin grafts etc. Help, i don't want to loose me finger if something can be done, regards desperate barry.

Re: Duplicate operations
What kind of surgeon has been working on you? Were you diagnosed with Dupuytren's?

Hello, yes i was diagnosed with duputren's all of my lumps and bumps as well as bent fingers. I can't remember the guys operating except the first three were plastic surgeons while the last one was not. I do have kept records that i can refer to if it will help acheive anything. Thanks for your interest.

Re: Duplicate operations
It is just that I have strong feelings that success of surgery for Dupuytren's is highly correlated to the specific quality (Dupuytren's experience) of the surgeon. I think there are too many patients and surgeons who think that Dupuytren's surgery is just another generic surgery. My surgeon did not operate on any part of the body except the hand. I think that is crucial for success in surgery for Duputren's.

Re: Duplicate operations
I have had three ops on my pinky, the latest one included a skin graft which the doctor said should have been done first time out.The knuckle joint was fused from lack of use,yet he still managed to straighten the finger.Great job.
