Anyone know if celebrex can aggravate DD?
Greetings from Beijing, China-- I'm a 46 yr old HS math teacher who has just been diagnosed with DD, stage 0, nodules on right palm below pinky, but no contracture as yet. Have had them for about 3 years and decided it was time to check it out. I lift weights and had always assumed that the nodules were due to the weight training.
So, now the question... Aside from the weight training, I'm a racewalker who, just yesterday, has been diagnosed with beginning stages osteoartritis in my left knee. I'm supposed to take a medication called Celebrex to reduce the inflammation. I'm afraid to take it, however, because I'm concerned that it may aggravate the DD. Living in Beijing is great, but I don't really have access to anyone here that is familiar with DD. Help!!! I'm so worried that if I take the Celebrex it will hasten the development of the DD.
Thanks so much in advance for any responses and for starting this site. It's has been my main source of DD info. Sorry for the long posting! :) --Kathy

Arthritis and Dupuytren~sq~s Disease
I have DD in both hands and I have osteoartritis in my lower back and both hands. Until it was recalled by the FDA the other day, I took Vioxx for my osteoartritis. I took Vioxx for at least 5 years. During that time my DD has remained dormant. I know Vioxx is not Celebrex, but at least one osteoartritis medication does not seem to hasten the development of DD.

Natto Nattokinase
Hi,
Since you are in that part of the world and are used to oriental foods (presumablely)...consider looking on the Peryonies website (sister to this) and read the discussions about the food Natto and the enzyme Nattokinase as part of your research on DC.
PD as you know is a sister disease to DC.
Good luck
Frances.
