Dupuytrens treatment

has anyone been successful in communicating directly with Dr. Eaton in Florida without the neccesity of actually going there.I can't get past his assistant. Does he have personal email? does he respond? Has anyone recently used Dr. Lermusiaux in Paris? Better than Dr. Eaton?

communicating with Dr. Eaton

I haven't been in the Forum for a while ...so as I called Dr. Eaton's office for an appointment this morning, I figured I would check out the latest on the Forum so I could ask any questions when I see him .

I was able to get an appointment within 3 weeks of my call. I know he fills up quickly especially since he is the only Paris trained doc doing the dups...but three weeks is very respectable with any physician...never mind trying to get in with the sole Paris trained doc in the country!

I was a bit taken back when I read the previous posting! How many doctors do you know who have thought enough of a condition to create a website and update it with general questions in order that many people can benefit from his knowledge ? He also updates the website as to anything new on dups to keep people updated and informed....with no cost to the public.

However, he is swamped with patients who want personal evaluations and /or treatment. These folks make appointments as they would do with any other doctor if they want to discuss their own medical status and determine which treatment is best for them. I don't know of a single
physician who would personally take calls to field general,
never mind personal ,questions about their conditions without seeing the patient in person. Physicians have
an obligation to their existing patients to schedule their office with the least amount of delay. Fielding questions from non-patients I assume would take away from otherwise cucial time that he could be helping a patient via the dups
procedure. We already know that the office has tried to
ask Dr. Eaton about detailed questions in between patients...and filter it back to the callers...but they have
to be careful not to take time away from the patient who has made an appointment and is there to receive the help
as a bona fide patient..

I see many physicians personally and I insure their offices...and I am here to tell you that the gratis information shared by his office with potential patients
is far beyond the norm! He is not only limited by time constraints due to the overwhelming response of the public
to his dups treatment, but he also cannot practice medicine
without seeing a client.

So, I am not sure what you meant by not being able to get past his assistant! How many other doctors have you called as a nonpatient and asked to speak directly to the doctor and then be able to get through? I doubt any! Dr. Eaton's
staff has always been responsive when they can and have been
able to answer questions that are deemed "addressable".

My suggestion is to make an appointment like you would with any other doctor and ask all the questions you need to ask. I promise you--you will not be disappointed---
he spends as much time as you need to spend answering your questions.....as that is your time slot and yours only!

Yes, I will bone up and see if there are any unanswered questions and I will take them to him when I see him in my very near appointment in three weeks. After all, it will be MY TIME....because I made an appointment!

I hope you will be able to understand that Dr. Eaton is human...and there are just so many hours a person can work..
I know him for many years as a patient...and I can tell you
he would love to help everybody ...and he is trying to accomodate those who need him. I hope you become a patient
so you can experience personally what I have tried to relay!

In the meantime, stay tuned to his website for info/updates.

communicating with Dr Eaton

Steve, it sounds like you pretty much want a doctor to give you his expertise without you being a patient. There isn't ANY doctor worth his salt that would do that! Absolutely NO doctor is going to treat you over the phone or over the net. As for not getting through his assistants....did it ever occur to you that he's a very busy surgeon who is spending his time taking care of his bona fide patients. Go to that website, I don't know of any other doctor who has ever given so much information to so many people and it's all free. Sounds like you REALLY want something for nothing. I have no idea what you do for a living but I'd be willing to bet that you don't give all your expertise (if you have any) away.

Dr. Eaton

When I made my appointment with Dr. Eaton in May...The office staff took the medical history over the phone.. you can also email it in... you can also send pictures of your hands through regular mail or email at Dr. Eaton's site.. www.handcenter.org.
I f you guys would take the time to go to the site and read ALL OF THE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS it will help you alot. There are also pictures that you can see...GO TO THE SITE.
Dr. Eaton was busier than a bee when I was there.. I cannot imagine him taking the time to go to the phone every 3 minutes....When I saw him.. he was either with a patient..or on his computer...HE IS A CLASS ACT.....He did not want to do N.A. on one of my fingers because the cords were not hard yet....I flew from California..he could have done it and charged me..but, he didn't...He did the cords that were hardened.
Arthritus can be detected with an xray..I was told this by another hand sergeon who wanted to do regular surgery.
I KEEP SAYING THIS OVER AND OVER FOR NEW COMERS...DO NOT HAVE REGULAR SURGERY..GO TO THE WEB SITES AND SEE THE DIFFERENCE... I WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO EMAIL YOU THESE SITES IF YOU ARE HAVING DIFFICULTY IN BRINGING THEM UP.
Good Luck to All...
and again.. Thank you.. Jerry.. for pushing me out the door and onto that plane....you helped me.. now, it is my turn to push others forward.

Dr. Eaton... has done it again!

Well, fellow dup chatters....I had my right hand treated for dups...and he did it again! I still am amazed at the instant relief at the end of the procedure! This is my second dup release..but the first on my right hand...the one I use to make my living! I was hesitant as I had some other concurrent things going on in that hand...and I was afraid Dr. Eaton wouldn't be able to do the procedure!
We seem to get used to the diminished capability of the hand
and then all of a sudden, it becomes a down right obstacle!
I had reached that point..and was hoping nothing would prevent the release procedure! He said we may have some"tiger" territory to wade through...but onward he went.
When he said open your hand...my first response was.."Did we
get through tiger territory" to which he said "Yep!" And I had a great release..better than my left hand which had had some surgery 4 months prior to that release! My hand was as flat as a pancake!

Now, I always have to tap Dr. Eaton's brain...so while he was pricking my hand, I was picking his brain! Couple of things he shared:

Better to get hands done at the earlier side of dups rather than at the later stages...for a better potential outcome!

Also, I told him I had been reading the forum which mentioned frozen shoulder...which I am lucky enough to have
as well...and I asked him if there was any correlation between dups and frozen shoulder..to which he said there is
strong correlation between the two. He also said that there was an arthroscopy technique that orthopedics can do....any
trained orthopedic! So, sufferers can seek home based care for correction of that problem!

The procedure went so quick..I didn't get to ask much else..
except about his trip to Paris and the art museums he visited.

Readers probably get tired of hearing all these glowing accolades about Dr. Eaton and the success stories...but I will tell you...my right hand is delighted!
