I am a craftsperson who makes chainmaille jewelry. I have to use pliers, and sometimes large cresent wrenches looking things. In January while getting ready for a craft show I noticed my hands were aching alot, but I needed to get alot of work done for the show, so continued to work through my sore thumb. It is now March and I haven't gone to the doctor. I cannot move my thumb without much pain and clicking of both joints. I bought myself a thumb splint online,about a week or so ago. How long should I wear it, and should I take it off every now and then so my thumb can move so it won't get contracted?
