those of you who use this forum visit:

http://www.dupuytren.org/wwwboard/wwwboard.html

This forum has more info from a wider variety of "patients" world-wide and is monitored by Dr. Rappaport, an NA practitioner. Because of the way the forum is organized, it's easily searchable for the info you're looking for (CTRL-F in your browser) so people NEW to THIS forum don't have to ask questions that have been answered many times over.

If you take the time to read the paper on the colleganase studies posted here: http://jvm.com/wstagner/dlinks.htm
you can form your own opinions about the treatment. In fact I have a number of links posted there that you will find interesting.

Take the time to read the info posted there and make an INFORMED decision about what to do, if anything, about our malady. I'm not selling anything. I'm just advocating that you be proactive and take responsibility for your condition or don't. It's up to you.

One More Thing

Stop all the whining about whether insurance covers your chosen treatment or not. If insurance DOESN'T cover it, does this mean that you're going to live with your condition OR are you going to find a way to PAY for it? Many of us HAVE insurance but have a minimum of a 500 or $1000 deductable anyway, so if you've not met your deductable are you going to WAIT until you do to seek treatment? Your choice. What is the use of your hand(s) worth?

I hate taking vacations, I hate travelling, I hate flying, I especially hate Air France BUT I had enough confidence in the number of HAPPY/SATISFIED NA patients that I went to France anyway. I was glad I did and even returned a 2nd time!

The point is that most of you probably DON'T feel about travelling and vacations as I do, so should you choose to go to France, Switzerland, Belgium for NA ENJOY the trip and treat it as a vacation not a medical expense.

I think that a vacation in any of these countries would be better than taking a weeks vacation in Stony Brook NY.

other dups forum

Walt,
Have browsed the "other/better dups forum and found
it very informative and interesting. You are obviously
a proponent of NA, same as Jerry. My husband has had four
fasciectomies, and regrets all. He was diagnosed very
young, late twenties when you still believe in docs because
you're too young to know better. Hopefully we will see Dr
Rappoport soon, thanks to Jerry who is as compassionate as
anyone could hope for. I really believe that the insur-
ance companies rule the med field, not the AMA. The bad
part is that as a person who has been a conservative
for the most part in most ways, who would not, in
principle anyway, have approved a move in the direction of
socialized medicine, since I think that too much inter-
vention is not healthy, have to say that after my dup-
uytrens frustrations I can see why some people would push
for socialized med. I guess my main gripe is that America
is supposed to be the fore runner and we were raised on
that, also at a time when our country is at war, with
young men & women risking their lives you just want to
stick together. Sad that Americans must go abroad for true
help. But we are thankful for any Dr's willing to help.
Good luck,
Mary Beth & Richard

Informed Choice

is what I'm a proponent of. Just happens I believe NA is a good treatment and works for many people. We do have a good health care system here in the US IF you're willing to do the work to make it work. Have a look at http://www.acam.org and find a local Dr. who belongs to this (rather than AMA). You'll be amazed at the difference.

Also 2 other good sites: http://www.wrightnewsletter.com/nah/nahindexie.shtml and

Dr. Eaton, in Jupiter, Fl

just had my left hand done... great job!
it took about ten minutes, it only took 5 needle holes, not an entire hand opened up.. and the fingers went back immediately when the fibres were cut. There was very little pain, and I was able to use the hand almost immediately. I wholeheartedly recommend that you withhold surgery and get the NA!
Here's his number: 561 746 7686. Do it now!
