Splint Question from Newbie
Hi, I am a newbie with a Dupuytrens nodule on palm and pip L ring finger with apparent cord. I am a Nurse-but other than that my Dad had this too (I remember his L pinkie finger was flat against his palm), I know very little-I'm a Diabetes Educator-so I'm looking for guidance. Two Questions I spoke with a Physical Therapist at our Practice-she admits that she is not a "Hand" Therapist, but she is wondering (1),if the use of a splint-maybe at night would ward off future contracture. And(2), do you all rountinely see a hand surgeon or ortopaedist, or do you sit it out with a watch and wait attitude? I appreciate your input. Sheila

splint
Hi, It is my understanding, and also my doctor's advise, to use your hand as much as possible. Excersize and massage it. Restriction of it will only stiffen it.
