Way of telling if u will be a suffirer of dupuytrens

Hi all,
Was recently talking to my best mate who also suffers from Dupuytrens. Both of us have similar cases so we have learnt to cope with it. As it is so strange to get it at such a young age we were having a general discussion.

I was massaging his bad hand and he was massaging mine. He had told me that a doctor told him that if your baby finger does not reach the top crease on your ring finger u will get DC in ur life time.

As we both checked it out our pinkies did not reach the top crease and we found this quiet strange, We went around asking our friends could we check it out, and all of them had it reaching there line.

So here is what you do, even if you suffer from DC please post and verify my question. :)

1. Flatten palm so it faces you.
2. There is 3 crease in every finger joint, one at bottom one at middle and one at top.
3. Look at the baby finger and see where it positions on your ring finger.
4. Reply to this post and give your results.

(note this may not work if your DC was caused by an accident)

Please write back.

Warm Regards Eddie :)

NA

Dear Eddie,

Whatever happened to your proposed visit to France/USA regarding your NA procedure (where people offered you help)? Have I missed something? I thought you had contacted Dr Eaton.

Eddie,
I've heard before about relations between hand/finger size to certain (male) anatomic characteristics.
I suppose this falls in the same category :)

Eddies Plight

I am not being funny Eddie, I have symptathy for anyone with this thing. But I am sure Drs Eaton and Lermusiaux would not turn you down. I think you are making fun of us all. Also your spelling seems to vary from day to day. You are one big FAKE. Taking advantage of kind peoples' offers. Shame on you.

short finger

I'm not sure if the question is entirely serious, but I have DC and have a short 5th finger - it extends only midway between the middle and top joints of the 4th finger.

length of fingers

I would like to know if there are any statistics about length of fingers at people having DC. For example, average length of baby finger at males with DC = XXX cm, while at all males = YYY cm.

I~sq~m the original

Hi all,

I'm the original 'Anon' who started the donations for Eddie. The process stopped because of the introduction of Dr. Eaton. I thought it was Dr. Eaton who contacted Eddie of his own free will, so I did not want to interfere, but after speaking with Eddie privately, apparently wasn't the case. It seems some one on this board encouraged Eddie to contact Dr. Eaton. Without doubt that person was trying to bait Dr. Eaton into offering to do Eddie's hands for free and Eddie didn't realize he was being used for this purpose.

Remember, Eddie is from Ireland and is probably not aware that sometimes American doctors will do things for free for goodwill and publicity. Many of us probably figured that Dr. Eaton would consider doing Eddie as a form of goodwill, and publicity which would forward NA.

Ultimately, what I am saying is that this interuption is not Eddies fault, it is the fault of the individual who didn't leave what we were doing alone - they tried to think of a better way to get the job done and made a mess of it.

Eddie has at not time solicited money from any of us and I think that we sould lay off him. Yes, I too have noticed a difference in quality of writing, but believe there are in fact two Eddies but our Irish Eddie hasn't been around long enough to realize that so he responded with an explanation about his dyslexia.

As for the fruad thing, no, that wouldn't have happened because I had asked Eddie for a letter of referal from his orthopedic surgeon as proof of his age an circumstance, then certainly, when he showed up in Dr.L's office for the work, Dr. L would indeed be able to confirm that Eddie was who he said he was. I was also putting in a failsafe in that Eddie would not be handling the money himself, it would go directly to Dr. L.

I have been mulling over how to handle this problem for a while and am glad that this has come up again.

What should we do? I need imput.
