Accutane

Interesting. I had never heard of Accutane having an effect on Dupuytren's. And all I can find is that single link, to a description of a patent application.

Nor can I find any other reference to L.Dean Parks, the person (doctor?) making this claim.

It seems like an odd thing to try and patent, and if Mr. Parks succeeds, that will probably just make it impossible for doctors to prescribe Accutane for Dupuytren's. There seems to be no real "invention" behind this patent.

How did you find out about this?

Accutane

I had posted some months earlier on this. My Dups appeared shortly after a treatment regemin of accutane. A younger fellow posted a similar experience. Accutane is very toxic on the liver, could be a correlation.

But - the link in the original post referred to a claim that Accutane reverses Dupuytren's, not causes it...

I found and talked to Dr. Parks. Seemed sketchy to me. The patent application talked about only minimal and subjective resoltution of contractures. Not worth the risks of Accutane, a nasty drug.

Who is this Dr. Parks? Does he intend to do anything with the patent?

He filed the patent and is a retired dermatologist. He was trying to sell his idea to a drug company....good luck.

Don't go near it. I fell ill with major depression a few years ago which the doctors attributed to this drug. When I say major I was in hospital on and off for the better part of 3 years was on a concoction of around 30 tablets a day and had over 100 ECT's(Electro Convolsive Therapy)ie Electric Shock Treatment. There are a number of sites where peaople discuss similar cases, just like this. STEAR CLEAR AT ALL COSTS. It mightn't affect everyone but there are too many to take the risk

Yes I think I've heard that Accutane is wicked stuff. I'd have to hear a lot more about this before I'd be remotely interested. We don't need to exchange 1 problem for 2.
