I have been talking about the metabolic link, the liver link, the circulation link and seems few want to realize that their body is a bio-organism. Help the liver. Anyone who consumes alcohol and has Dup is careless. I feel I stopped the progression of my Dup by consuming guava, papaya, pineapple, ginger, figs, and kiwi. To add circulation, I use vitamin E, gingko, ocassionally an aspirin and vitamin K cream. Sam-E & CoQ do not seem to adversely affect my Dup. (do not take excess vit. C or glucosamine or chondroitin.)

Biochemical aspects

Irene and G-Man:

I think you're both smart to be questioning the exquisitely intricate biochemical aspects of living organisms and disease.

There are a group of five of us so far on a list who are taking the supplement acetyl-l-carnitine, not knowing whether or not it might help. It has been shown to be beneficial to sufferers of peyrone's disease, which is thought to have a similar origin to Dups!

I'm keeping a (confidential) list of e-mail addresses for those who are trying this. The idea being we can all report on our results simultaneously on this forum at six month intervals. (I'll notify the others when I initiate a new topic on the forum for our reports.)

If you're curious and want to research a-l-c a bit on your own and then want to give it a try, I'd be delighted to put you on our little list!

Refer to recent topics: "colchicine and acetyl-l-carnitine working still" and "acetyl-l-carnitine study group" for more info., insight, references, etc.

Best to you both.
Susan
