Coincidence?
Yes, I do know that this is the dupuytrens forum but, I am very interested in the fact that the ratio of men/women with dupuytrens is 4/1. I also have a rare type of Atrial Fibrillation, namely Vagally Mediated. Again, the ratio of men/women is 4/1. I find this very interesting as the age pattern is also the same.
Any takers on this?

Hi Marjorie,
typically Dupuytren starts earlier for men (for whatever reason). Therefore the ratio between male/female depends on at what age you measure it. 4/1 is probably true for the age of 40, with 80 the ratio is about 1/1.

hello Wolfgang.
Not sure I can agree with that reasoning as women live longer than men and, if you had a group of 4 men and 1 woman, by the age of 80 by the law of averages 3 of the men would have died, hence your 1/1. I understand that between the ages of 40-70 the ratio is 4/1.

Hi Marjorie,
an interesting aspect that the levels equalize because the guys die away (the natural way to "cure" Dupuytren ...). There might be some truth to it. But as we males are strongly moving towwards getting 80, too, lets wait what statistics will exhibit then.
