DC & climbing/mbiking/kayaking

Just had (painful) lump in r hand below little finger diagnosed as DC aged 44. Dr says exercise good, so keep up with outdoor activities. Any advice out there from fellow activists? I wear gel gloves for mountain biking already. Darbs

Activity

Darbs,
In my case, over use of my hands seemed to stimulate the growth of Dupuytren's. A person never knows for sure because Dupuytren's has inactive and active stages and it often can be a coincidence when growth occurs with an activity or medicine.
For ledderhose disease, I think the correlation of inappropriate activity and Dupuytren's is very strong.

using hands

In my case, my hand doctor told me to keep using my hands, but overuse of the hands can cause damage. I have found that to be true. I raise horses, and , if I do too much lifting it causes a problem. If I keep using my hands in a more normal way, that is good. If you are rock climbing, it is overuse of the hands. Anything that strains the hand can cause progression.

Climbing etc

Thanks - I suspected as much. Lower grades and less frequent perhaps to get a balance. Darbs
