Are you aware of the fact that Dr. Gary Press has invented a knife and a procedure that is less invasive (like NA is) for carpal tunnel. He has been frustrated by the lack of interested in his procedure by other surgeons (what else is new). You might check this out, just for the sake of knowing that it's there, even if you don't eventually need it.

I have had carpel tunnel syndrom after I had duppys surgery. As a matter of fact I had the carpel tunnel surgery at the same time as another duppys surgery (this is not normally a recomended practice by the way).

Odd thing was I had no symptoms of carpel tunnel, it was diagnoses as a check for a pinched disk (didn't have that).
