NA therapy in Montreal
Dr. Helena Spacek is active doing NA treatment since January 2004 for all who are interested. You will need a referral by your own doctor to see her. She does treat out of province Canadians from everywhere. You will need to pay the consult fee up front and get re-imbursed by your medical plan. Talk to them first on what is covered and what is not. Your doc can then fax Dr. Spacek with the necessary info. I called today and spoke to the booking nurse who said she could fit me in by June! That's is great! Feel free to email me for any further questions. I do speak both French and English is you need help!

Fellow Canadian
Problems needing to be overcome ...when I called, her receptionist at the time spoke little english and Dr Spacek did not take emails containing pictures of hands. Because of this....I feel the travel costs could end up being a waste...meaning ....it would be a bummer to travel across the country only to have her tell you she can't do NA because you are too advanced or too scarred from surgery or...?
Second problem, frankly I would feel more comfortable if she had a website explaining her credentials and what NA entailed like the other doctors ie: How many NA's has she performed?
Three, I have not seen any testimonies of her work. Could it be because she has seen mostly french speaking patients so they are not on this or any other english-speaking website?
Four, Could you be wrong about her start date? I heard about her just after we were in Switerland and that was in 2001. Perhaps she has been performing NA at that location since 2004? I believe she used to work out of Notre Dame Hospital so perhaps that explains the discrepency in dates...
Although I really really really want to shout her name from the roof tops because I am an NA advocate, I just can't because of these issues. Once they get resolved I will be happy to revise my opinion but for now...if I lived in Edmonton I would consider one of the American NA practitioners first dispite the cost differential because I believe that if one is to step outside the box and go for a treatment that is not the norm....then one bloody well better be sure of the doctor they are seeing and have a basic idea of the possible outcome *prior* to getting the work done. Our family doctors are hard enough to deal with without having answers to these questions before we get on a plane.
Please - if anyone sees her *make a post* telling us how it went. NA is so important to DC and having another accessable NA practioner in North America is desparately needed.

Dr. H. Spacek
Fellow Canadians.
I have spoken to Dr. Spacek's booking nurse. Dr. Spacek did train in France to do the NA procedure. She has been doing it since then. She took a maternity leave in the process of her practice in Montreal and just returned in January 2004 from that maternity leave, to continue her work in NA procedures. I hope to see her sometime in July! I'll let you all know how it went.
