I think we can all be out there looking for causes and effects, the fact still is there, that if you have the genes for this disease, you are going to have it. Diet is not the cause. Diet is not the answer. If this is in your genes, you are going to get it, nomatter what you take, or do. Trama to the hand, can cause it to come on sooner, and faster, but anything else, is not the cause. the cause is, if you have it, YOU have it.

The theory seems to be that hypoglycemia is the cause of DC, and that there are several different cascades that can lead to hypoglycemia and DC. Connective tissue disorders such as DC can be one of the long-term complications of diabetes, but I don't have diabetes or hypoglycemia. Most people with diabetes never develop DC. If you have the genes, you can get DC whether or not you have hypoglycemia/diabetes. Hypoglycemia is just one of many risk factors, such as hand trauma, that increase the odds of getting DC sooner rather than later.

The web page also suggests that vitamin D is a cure for DC. I'm certain that I don't have a vitamin D defficiency. The human body produces all the vitamin D it needs if it has adequate exposure to the sun. I live in California and spend a lot of time outdoors year round. I've also taken a supplement containing 100% of the MDR of vitamin D for many years, long before I developed DC. In addition, I eat lots of fish and dairy products - foods rich in vitamin D. It is unsafe to take much more than the MDR of vitamin D because it is toxic in large doses.

I am the author of the new theory web site. First of all, I think Miss Patty is a real party pooper. I certainly hope she's not on my team if I were faced with a life or death situation. All she would say is, we're dead and there's nothing that can be done about it! Jeesh! Go brighten up someone elses world with your sunny outlook on life.

A few posts back someone tried to give a brief synopsis of what is contained in my website. I would encourage eveyone reading this thread to actually read the web site. What I have presented is actually a very interwoven endocrine scenario which can lead to Dupuytren's for those persons who are predisposed to it. Furthermore, it is possible for a person to have subclinical insulin/glucosd malfunction in their body, without being significantly sick. And the same is true for hypoglycemia. It is possible to have subclinical hypoglycemia without being obviously sick.

Furthermore, the previous poster mentioned that he can't possibly be deficient in vitamin D because he lives in California. Although he might be right, he can only be certain by having a blood test. And even if sufficient vitamin D is presnt, that doesn't mean that the liver is properly converting it to the active form. Furthermore, the body will only produce vitamin D when the skin is exposed to midday sun. Morning and afternoon sun will not get the job done. But as I said in my web site, low vitamin D is just one of many potential causes of Dupuytren's. Based on what the previous poster communicated regarding his diet and lifestyle, it is likely that he is not deficient in vitamin D.
