I'm back to Hamburg next week for my second round of radiation.

Prof S will not be there in person, but has put me under the care of a named colleague, and offered a telephone consultation. I have declined this as everything is fine and all I think I need is the second round of radiation. I am quite happy about this.

The Prof is in the US undertaking training on cyberknife technology. I don't know if this is for future treatment of DD and LD or other conditions. I think they have this technology at the Hamburg clinic. Interesting.

I'm looking forward to enjoying the pavement cafe life in Hamburg, the port, lakes, gardens, without several layers of clothing, overcoat, woolly hat and gloves! I'm going to be careful about what I eat, no healthy (salad) foods!

The Prof will be in the SF area of CA for 1 week from June 18 and is willing to meet US patients, not so much for a consultation but a discussion on the condition and treatment.

Good luck with your treatment. You said Dr. S. was willing to meet with US patients to talk, not really to examine. Do you think he would reconsider and do some consultations/examinations? I would be willing to travel to CA from NC just to let him take a look.

Hi Everyone
Just a quick note to let you know that I've just returned from my second cycle of treatment in Hamburg and will be posting further details shortly.

This time around I have not had any of the problems with inflammation that I had during the first cycle and am recovering a lot more quickly. I'm walking normally, able to exercise and my feet are even de-sensitising a little making walking on hard surfaces more comfortable again. Prof S believes the strong reaction I had last time was a good sign that the treatment was effective - good news for others who have experienced the same level of reactive response!

My feet swelled a bit on the return flight - something never experienced in the past, or during the first cycle. Anyone traveling with this condition should take their massage ball on the plane - it was a great relief during the flight when my the swelling started or the nodules hardened.

For all of you going to Hamburg over the next few weeks- the weather was a bit changeable, but overall quite warm.
Make sure you take the city bus tour - you get to see a different view of the city than scouting around on your own. I hired bikes on an hour by hour basis from 'next bike', bikes located at key locations that you hire by simply dialing a number and then getting a lock combination to take off on your adventures! Hi everybody,

How funny! We have been notified by our by our car rental company that we got a ticket while in Germany in March! The only thing I can think of is we drove around in a very nice area by a lake and kept noticing strange looks from all the people that were walking. Soon we noticed that we were the ONLY people driving so we go out of there - but we never saw any "Do not enter" signs.

I'm leaving on 6/11 for my second treatment next week. I found out after I made the reservations that June 13 is a German national holiday - everything's closed including the clinic!. Prof. S is going to modify my treatment for Tues - Fri - twice on Tuesday I believe.

I assume you didn't eat any salads while there. We're vegetarian so it's going to be interesting - lots of bread...and beer of course!
