Re: Radiation Therapy in the UK and Germany
Hi Mike, I had my treatment over 5 days so have to go back for another session in August (approximately 12-14 weeks after the first series. I had both hands and both feet treated for a cost of 1,250 euros which was a lot less than I was expecting. I've been told to expect the second series to cost roughly the same as the first, so in total 2,500 euros. That will include the 6 month follow up visit. There are a couple of hotels within easy walking distance of the clinic and the U-bahn and the good news is that everybody seems to speak excellent English. Best wishes Chris

Re: Radiation Therapy in the UK and Germany
Chris-- How did you get in contact with Seegenschmiedt? I'm having a little trouble finding an email address. The one I found was at krupp-krankenhaus.de but you said he was no longer in Essen. Is he in Hamburg now? Also, your hotel recommendations would be appreciated. If this info isn't appropriate for the forum, you can PM me at mharrel2005@yahoo.com. thanks, Mike

Re: Radiation Therapy in the UK and Germany
I got back from Hamburg a week ago having had my second set of treatments on my hands and feet. All went well. The hotel worked fine as it was only 15 minutes walk away from the clinic and had a free airport shuttle which was very efficient. Prof Seegenschmiedt said I could expect my hands and feet to feel hot and they would probably peel though it would not be painful. After my first treatment I had a couple of weeks (about weeks 7 and 8) when my hands felt very dry and about 4 weeks (weeks 3-6) when the palms of my hands felt quite warm, I didn't appear to have any side effects with my feet. Prof S also said that I would only be able to guage the effectiveness of treatment over time - I would probably get an indication within six months or so. I'll update if anything happens.
