Xiaflex

Has anyone heard of using Xiaflex for Ledderhose? I know it's off label but just curious...

I have also heard of this off label use, with a comment that it looks encouraging. But that"s all and it was a while ago and nothing since.

Similarly though, but not the same, the clinical trial for Peyronie's use must have a positive outcome, as Auxilium have just applied to the FDA for a license for its use for that condition.

So wild extrapolation would suggest it does help with nodules as well as cords.

The injection didn't hurt at first, but half way through it really did. It didn't feel too bad most of the day but now, 14 hours later it is bruised and stings when I stand. I truly hope it reduces the nodual size. The injection was on my right foot, which I had surgery to remove a nodual in 1992. If anyone is interested, I'll post updates. Mr. Spanish, thank you for your comments. I hope you are right!

Please do continue to report your observations! I believe everyone with Ledderhose is interested in it. A year ago I myself had Xiaflex injected in my little finger and it took well over a week before the swelling and bruising had gone (actually I still have a little swelling in that hand but that might have other reasons). It might take a while until your foot is recovered.

Wolfgang--My nodule actually looks a little bigger; I am hoping that is due to swelling. It still stings at times but think that is subsiding. I continue to ice and take it easy. I will be back to report....

Any report now that it has been a couple of weeks?

Correct, it will be two weeks tomorrow (12/3)--the bruising is gone but there is still a bit of pain at times. The pain I feel at times is different than before. It's more a of a "stinging" pain. It is not constant, but does present more than I would like!! The nodal appears to still be bigger than it was at the time of the injection. At this point I cannot recommend doing it but I will continue giving updates. I truly hope, of courses, that the nodual gets smaller. I am also considering radiation on my hands and feet.

Too bad that your result is not any better! But maybe it takes a couple of more weeks to settle? If you don't mind, please give us an update occasionally.

I appreciate you posting about your experience. I am having a lot of pain with Ledderhose and it is good to read what is working or not for others as I try to go forward and take some action.
