    I am just curious ... are nodules common on the fingers themselves? Or is that kind of unusual?

    the nodules are common between finger joints. I recently had surgery, nodes removed on 1 hand but they were all on the palm side of the hand, not between fingers.

    What type of surgery did you have?

    I have large nodules on each PIP joint. They are on the underside of each finger (palm side). They are getting so large that it is interfering with the ability to bend each finger.

    I have nodules on the palm side of PIP joints. Don't think it's that common.

    I was wondering when a nodule on the joint becomes a real problem, what options do you have? Is open surgery the only way to remove them?

    steroid shots softened and and made mine considerably smaller ..

    I thought they were fairly uncommon until I got them! Probably a side effect of Xiaflex-- everything else is Gotta laugh to keep from crying!

    Well, they ARE on the hand where I received the Xiaflex injection. Gotta wonder. lol. I'd really like to get rid of a couple of nodules that are really restricting the use of those fingers. Just wasn't sure if that was possible. I've heard about people using steroid shots but a couple of these are huge.

    I have an appointment on September 16th with a new hand specialist. I'm anxious to get his opinions on my treatment options. Everyone in my mom's family (lots of people) have DC. No one has the finger nodules, though.

    I would guess that these side effects from Xiaflex will never be made public. Too much money behind the product.

    Hello,
    I have not had treatment on my hands YET.
    I do have a nodule on my finger. It is located near the the PIP area. I also have two (2) on my thumb
