Prof Seegenschmiedt, Hamburg visit June 2012 - web page with photos

I've just put together a web page on my trip to Hamburg. People who have been to Hamburg will probably recognise quite a few of the photos and maps.

If anyone spots any additional info to add etc, comments welcome.

Also studio quality photos of Dupuytrens at Stage-N and Stage-I:

Good luck to anyone getting treatment.

Al

Thank you, Al, for a very thorough report! Today is my fourth week since treatment in Hamburg. If I had had all the info you provided, it would have made the trip so much simpler.

My hand markings by Prof. S. were very similar to your markings and my treatment area was identical. So far, I have no noticeable changes in my hands, with the exception of drier skin.

Hope all goes well for your second treatment series.

    Sharon

Thanks Sharon. Are there any other pieces of information which you think would be helpful?

Interesting that your patterns look the same - comparing with Roger Mirka's hands from 2010 he has quite a lot less, so he would have been at quite an earlier stage.

        Al,

Excellent report--very thorough and informative. I'm sure many folks planning to venture to Germany will truly benefit from such great information. Very cool that you added information to Wiki site as well.

Three weeks until my second round in Virginia. I'm already seeing positive changes and wish you luck on your journey and next visit with Dr. S.

          Hi Al
Great account and attention to detail . In one of my former lives I was a police officer and I wished I had individuals who could have given witnesses statements with so much attention to detail . Ten out of Ten. It will be of great help to those who choose to go to Hamburg and have little knowledge of the German language. I had a chuckle when you reported "no bath" only a "shower" in the hotel. As an Australian I cannot remember the last time I took a bath we all take showers down under-probably the climate. Regards

            Hi Amy

            Thanks for your feedback.

Looking up it seems that your doctor in Virginia had correspondence with Prof S. Was it a similar treatment number of days and break? Did the lead cut out look the same?

This seems to be quite a small community. I wonder how many people around the world get treated in a year with radiation therapy for Dupuytren's.

            Al

Thanks for that. I did use the bath a couple of times! I did put in the report about bringing some Tetley tea bags - then took out as it probably wouldn't mean much to non-UK folk.

I've just added a new small section "Positioning the hands prior to radiation treatments"

Thank you, Al, for the additional info. My cords near the base of the thumb were also excluded. From what I understand, it may be because radiation is not very effective on cords.

Really a great report and help to anybody who likes to consider a visit to HAMBURG!

Your report completely matches with my impression from Prof. Seegenschmiedt: excellent team, excellent medicine and a very knowledgable person, with good manners and quite a lot of humor ...

I was lucky to meet him first in Essen in his former clinic, but have followed him to Hamburg for further follow-up and counselling due to his clinical skills and broad knowledge about this disorder !

                    Hi Sharon

That's interesting about radiation maybe being less effective on cords. I'm going to put some questions together for Prof Seegensmiedt for when I see him in Sept 2012 and will include this one for clarification.
