Progress report...and now need a doc in PA!
Hi, everyone! I started following this wonderful board back in 2005 when I was first diagnosed with both DC and LD while living in London. I was 30 years old at the time. My mother also has both, but she developed initial symptoms in her 50s.
Then I moved to NYC where I had surgery to remove a knuckle pad and a node under my thumb -- both in the right hand. The knuckle pad came right back about 10 months later, and now I have two nodes in my left thumb.
I'm getting married (yay!), and moving to the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania. I've researched and can't find any recommended doctors in the area, so I was hoping some of you might have some insight. I'm 39 years old, and I'd really like to establish a relationship with a new doctor who can monitor me, especially with the presence of these two new nodules.
The closest I've found are Dr. Pess in Central New Jersey, and Dr. Leinberry in Philadelphia. But both of these are 1.5 hours away. I haven't yet investigated if my new insurance plan will cover out-of-state providers, but it would be nice to find someone great in or near the Lehigh Valley.
By the way, I've looked into RT, but doctors swayed me away from it because of my age, and because I'd like to have a baby.
Many thanks for all your help and best wishes to all of you.
Jessica

Re: Progress report...and now need a doc in PA!
Hi Pixi. I have followed your story and wondered at the decision of your NY doc to remove your knuckle pads. I have seen both Dr. Pess and Dr. Leinberry. I haven't had any procedure with Dr. Pess and have had cortisone shots from Dr. Leinberry. I'm going to a new doctor in Hershey on Monday, Dr. Michael Darowish. He trained at the Cleveland Clinic under a doctor who learned NA from Dr. Charles Eaton. I will let you know how it goes as he would be quite close to you.
