When will Xiaflex be approved in the UK?
Have read a lot on international sites about the success of Xiaflex and that it is due to be approved for use in the UK early this year. However, I cannot find any consultants offering it as treatment. Can anyone update me on approval and provide names of consultants who provide the treatment?

Re: When will Xiaflex be approved in the UK?
The NICE status seems to be still 'not in remit', see IP 831 on the NICE site.
Xiaflex trials have started see for example http://www.pharmanews.eu/pfizer/429-pfiz...view-of-xiaflex
You could ask Pfizer, or your local hospital hand unit.
David Warwick from Southampton is part of the trials. I don't know what selection criteria he uses though.

Re: When will Xiaflex be approved in the UK?
Hi Xiaflex is now FULLY and TOTALLY approved by the European Medicines agency.
In the UK it can now be dispensed.
HOWEVER: Each hospital now has to approve it (2-3months) at their pharmacy level and then each surgeon has to be trained and then each hospital has to pass it through their change of practise committee (another couple of months).
Some of this can happen synchronously but it will be a little while yet. I estimate that it will be first week in July before this really starts with private patients and then NHS patients.
look at www.dupuytrens.co.uk for ongoing updates. Chris
