Which fingers or thumbs?

After reading the pinkie finger is generally the most affected finger I'm curious about the experience of forum readers. Although I have cords in all eight fingers only four of them have been severe enough to require treatment-- the pinkie and ring finger on my RH and the index and middle finger of my LH. Somehwere in there is one good hand

Mine started in my middle finger, following surgery on that finger. A fasciectomy later, it's back in the middle finger, ring finger, and is starting in the index finger.

Re: Which fingers or thumbs?

My problem is with both pinkie fingers. 1) Right hand pinkie badly contracted with a boutonniere deformity of the DIP joint and contracture of the PIP joint... two NA's on that finger. 2) Left hand pinkie barely beginning to contract at PIP joint. No visible cords, but many hard nodules and dimples on both palms.

Re: Which fingers or thumbs?

Mine is primarily in my right hand, my dominant hand. Looking back, my thumb was the first thing affected. Didn't know about DD, so I dismissed it as beginning arthritis. Tightening developed across my palm to my pinky finger with cupping of my palm and dimpling, and to steal from our fellow Forum contributor, it was beginning to look like bubble wrap. Any contracture of any finger comes from the palm. Metacarpal joints affected, but that is coming from cords deep and near the surface in my palm, not developing first in the PIP or DIP joints.

My analysis and in my opinion, RT significantly slowed the progress.

Left hand is starting in a similar way but not exactly.

Re: Which fingers or thumbs?

Mine started in the palm of my right hand and and it is in the middle finger only. So far no new DD anywhere else that I can see. At night I do occasionally feel that crawling feeling in my right hand and it will wake me out of a dead sleep and put a fear in me. My relatives that have had DD: grandmother had it in her pinkie and my aunt had in in the middle finger.

Flora, I am glad you liked that bubble wrap description. It is rather descriptive and unfortunately accurate.

Re: Which fingers or thumbs?

Too true, Lori. It certainly describes my right palm!
