Re: XIAFLEX
spanishbuddha: There's a list of UK clinics who I think have been participating in the trial here http://www.dupuytren-online.info/dupuytr...se_clinics.html
I don't think it is approved by NICE yet, the only document I could find is here http://guidance.nice.org.uk/IP/831
Thanks for that,Murrayfield Hospital is not on that list and I know they do the injection there,it is only 2 miles from me.I wil try to dig deaper to see if i can get it on the NHS.

If you can get the name, maybe contact details, of the consultant at Murrayfield, we can try and get them added to the list on the website.

Re: XIAFLEX
I had a NA procedure done in 2007 and received Xiaflex injections in March of 2011. I had shorter recovery time and better results with the NA which costs roughly $1100 in the US, versus the Xiaflex treatment that cost over $4400.
In my case the insurance company would only pay for a single dose of the Xiaflex though two were needed (doctor stated that I would have benefited from a second dose). I got a partial treatment with Xiaflex which is likely to have affected my own outcome with the contracture returning in only a few months.
Without a doubt my next treatment will be an NA procedure. In my experience the NA was cheaper but also a lot more effective so I would not be terribly disappointed to not get the Xiaflex and have to get a NA done instead. It may not be a less beneficial treatment for others as compared to the Xiaflex.
What should be of interest is that the company making Xiaflex is being very careful not to collect statistics on outcomes that they might have to disclose in the future.

Thanks for that information I will look into NA and see what I think.

Re: XIAFLEX
I also have had multiple NAs on right hand, middle finger, and then Xiaflex in January of 2011. I had a severe reocurrance (finger bent in half) fairly quickly after Xiaflex, and had another NA procedure on 10/26/11. I only got 10 months from the injection.
I'm sticking with the NA. Since I had what I considered severe reactions to the injections, for me, the NA is less involved, no recovery, and also less expensive.
NA and splinting for me!
