xiaflex injection
I just recieved a xiaflex injection and had the manipulations done on the next day, there is some swelling on the back of my hand and at the injection site, and up to the middle of little finger, with a skin tear at the base of my little finger on the inside, it was quite painful but, well worth seeing my finger straight...cannot make a fist but can form a reverse c on right hand....so far so good, long way to go but that is what healing and re-hab are for. Right now i salute to my Dr. and Xiaflex

Re: xiaflex injection
I had an injection done on March 7th and the straightening done today, March 16, by which time the swelling was gone nearly completely. Had only two small 1/4" long tears of a callous and no breaks through the skin as a result of waiting. Dr. Denkler also used a local before doing the injections and before doing the straightening. So in my case other than the pain of the injections of the local there was zero pain from the Xiaflex injections and none from the straightening and no skin tears.
Dr. Denkler has done more than 100 Xiaflex procedures and does not follow the trials protocols in lock step - which is why I drove the extra distance to have him provide the initial consulation (NA vs. Xiaflex as he does both and did the NA on my hands in 2007), the injections and the straightening.
Whoever said no pain no gain had a bad doctor.

Re: xiaflex injection
bstenman, Glad to hear you had a successful Xiaflex procedure. Indeed, Dr. Denkler has so much experience, he would be my Dr. of choice if I did NA or Xiaflex in the future. (I had NA with him in 2006 and I think he is terrific). Interesting that he waits 9 days to do the straightening after the injection.
Could you pls. tell us which finger he straightened. What was the degree of contracture and which joint was involved?
