NA in UK

Does anyone know of any progress on NA being made available in the UK and if not, has anyone made any enquiries to the NHS or any other body as to why we have to go to France for treatment for such a relatively simple procedure?

I shall certainly be looking into who to contact, Otherwise we will all be accepting an archaic procedure and, like typical Brits, accepting it without question.

Let's get some progress on this issue!

NA in the UK

The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) issued guidelines, in February 2004, to the NHS regarding Needle Fasciotomy and concluded that '. . the procedure is safe enough and works well enough for use in the NHS', I contacted them for advice on any hospitals/clinics in the UK that may practice this procedure but they replied saying they do not keep that sort of information and I should talk to a consultant regarding the best treatment for my condition (back to square one!).

Still no further

Steve,

This is exactly the response I got from NICE. They suggested I contact PCT and PALS, which I did, and to be honest it drew a complete blank. If these organisations are there to help the patient, well, it is beyond belief. Just think how much funding they are getting. It is so frustrating that we have to go back to a consultant only to be (more than likely) told that they do not perform it in this country, and that the only treatment is surgery.
