I had this problem on my middle left finger. Dr. Lermusiaux pointed it out and fixed in about 10 minutes with NA.

I was curious. I knew it took other forms, but I just saw and read many posts where it seemed many people had the curling of the fingers rather than the drawing down of the fingers. I have an appointment with Dr. Eaton in Florida, March 8th. I can't wait.

Dr. Badois
Has anyone been in touch with Dr.Badois? I'm wondering what his schedule looks like for the next month or so. I e-mailed him several days ago, and am anxiously waiting for his reply... I'm in stage 2 on my right hand with thickening nodules and some itching; want to go to Paris before airfare goes up too high.

I just emailed Dr.Badois. I canceled my appointment with Dr.Badois to do a needle aponevrotomy on Thursday March 18th, at 2:30 PM. I had the procedure done in Florida by Dr. Eaton. So nice to have straight fingers again.

I saw doctor eaton Monday, Jan.26. Did yard work Thursday and played golf today, shooting a 78. If you suffering from Dupuytren's, go to Dr. Eaton. He's the second best doctor I know, the first? My daughter, Joanne.

NA and Trauma
I got the impression from this site that NA produced less trauma than traditional surgery, and therefore recurances would be less frequent. For the record -THAT IS A BUNCH OF BALONEY! Having had NA myself, and hearing from most others (who frequently repeat), the only conclusion is your AGRESSIVENESS of the disease at that time is the only factor. It has been 10 months, I am already at 30 degrees- so this looks to be an annual event. Until they come up with a workable cure, NA is the only way to go:
A few Minutes, A Few Bucks, No Pain, No Blood, No Time Off, No Therapy, No Scar Tissue, No Meds, No Post OP Depression, and No Recovery (No Pun Intended).
But be sure to - WEAR A NIGHT(LY) SPLINT! I didn't- but I'll know better the next time. JIM

Needle Aponevrotomy Results
Jim,
I am sorry it came back so soon for you. I feel like my finger is trying to curl back every day, but I wear a splint every night and that straits it out. It seems like a daily battle. Dr. Eaton’s homepage says NA reoccurs faster than hand surgery. But I would want to repeat NA rather than have hand surgery. I figure I will get a straight finger for 3 to 5 years at the best.

NA Results
Charlie - Thanks! Amen - I'll take NA over surgery any old day! No question bout it! You just have to play the "hand" you're dealt and move on to the next game. Hopefully we will all get better MPN (Months Per Needle) by sharing ideas. Glad to see a doctor here in the US with the guts to "pick uo the needle and run with it". A real blessing to those who could never make a long intercontinental trip.

Now correct me if I am wrong, fellow sufferers. I think I see some differences between Dr. Eaton and European NA practitioners:
1. Dr. Eaton sets you up with a night splint.
2. Dr. Eaton gives you a prescription for Allopurinol.
3. Dr. Eaton wants to follow up your progress. He wants pictures of your treated hand every three months.
4. Dr. Eaton’s office will bill your insurance.
5. Maybe I am wrong, but after reading Dr. Eaton’s resume I think he is a superior hand surgeon. I take comfort in the fact that he is so well versed in surgery and NA. I am also confident that he has superior knowledge of anatomy of the hand.

Sounds like you made a good choice for yourself.
Personally, I went to France and do not need a night
splint nor (off label) allopurinol. My insurance did not cover the procedure and it cost $200.00. Of course I was stuck in Paris and paid $320.00 RT for the privilege. Every case is different. I hope your treatment meets your expectations. Dr. eaton sounds like a good choice in your case. It sounds like you will be seeing him again, soon.
