Shoulder

We have an employee that has been diagnosed with Dupuytren's several months ago. She is having problems with her shoulder aching constantly. Can this be a result of her Dupuytren's, or is this something unrelated?

shoulder + dupuytrens

What she probably has is a frozen shoulder (sometimes called capsulitis). Like dupuytrens, it is something brought on by too much collagen in the body. I have Dupuytrens in both hands, and have had frozen shoulder in both shoulders. The good news about frozen shoulder - the pain recedes little by little, and with or without exercise, your range of motion is mostly returned within about twelve months. If you go with the rigorous exercise regime, expect a lot more pain, and back to a nice range of motion in - about twelve months.

frozen shoulder

I had a frozen shoulder about 15 years ago and it was successfully treat with therapy 3 times a week for a couples. Since then I have had 7 surgeries for dupuytrens. There must be a correlation.

shoulder pains

It seems that many DC sufferers have problems with pain in
wrists, elbows and shoulders, the back would seem natural
as well. The contracture probably affects from the limb
up and throughout. It is interesting, for Richard has had
the DC pains in hand for quite some time. Not very long
ago noticed wrists and elbow pain and has recently had some
back pains similar to what you have described. It is all
probably related if you really think about it.

shoulder pains

Strange that several of you should mention this shoulder pain.
I have just begun getting shoulder pains myself and was wondering if it might be arthritis.
I had blood tests done a while back and was told that I do not have arthritis so... one more culprit now to add to the D/C related problems?
hmmmm..... I'm wondering ( and suffering)too!

DUPUYTRENS and shoulder

Wow this hits home! I inherited my Dupuytrens from grandfather and searching the internet for kin I found distant relatives in his line and on my other parent's line and see it has Celtic and possible Viking genetic links. We are neither diabetics nor drinkers who are afflicted.Grandfather had pain and both hands wrer badly knarrles and zig zag surgery was preformed late in his situation so he could grip a fork to eat.
I started getting the lump close to 2 years ago and a bit later so did my 4 year younger sister.I am female in my late 50's and garden, cook, sew and more but mainly I am a professsional artist/sculptor/potter professional.I was proud of great loooking hands before thhis but now just wish to retain function to do well all I LOVE TO ACCOMPLISH WITH MY HANDS.
I also have had severe pain in my left shoulder in the recent months that is mostly at night or rather at rest reclining. It is so odd that I have to lift my left arm to move it like a dead weight in the morning using my right hand. The left arm gets much less painful as I get active but may be weak as I cannot pick up anything with any weight without dtroppng it with te left side.Sometimes there s numbness up my left side of my face from the jaw up thru the left eye but only slightly nticible.[no, it is not a stroke but sure mimics the symptoms]
Oddly, before all this my left leg from the inner left abdomen around thru the buttochs and in the joints were in severe pain also worse at sleep for several years but presently is not a problem with the same side sholder replacing the ssevere pain there.
I a not taking pain meds as I have acid reflux rather seriously and do notcare to create more problems for my system.
My dupuytrens is still early but progressing[my sister' has moved along fast]and the surgery has such unsatisfactory rsults from what I hear and read that I am trying to get the courage to get the proceedure only available in France. My doctor thinks I am nuts to go that route but the internet posts have been so positive I am certainly hopeful that would work for me.My hands are next to my eyes to me-invaluable tools and my life's joys.

shoulder is frozen

I also have had 2 frozen shoulders and I am doing P.T. on one now. Who would have guessed this was related to my DC? My DC is slow, I am 63 and have had it for 8 years with no contractures yet, but lots of nodules. I guess if it gets bad some day I will get the needle treatment, as that is the most successful according to this forum. If you ever get shoulder pains get P.T. immediately to avoid the pain of frozen shoulders. It is the worst pain I ever had.
